Jude Law set to join Guy Ritchie’s Knights Of The Roundtable

Guy Ritchie’s Camelot saga Knights Of The Roundtable looks set to add another big name to its growing ensemble, with Jude Law in negotiations to join the production.

According to Variety , Law is circling the role of the new film’s chief villain, although the identity of said bad guy has yet to be disclosed…

Warner has big plans for the film, which is expected to be the first in a potential six-film franchise. At this stage it is unclear whether Law’s role will be restricted to the first film, or whether he will recur throughout the series.

Should he sign on the dotted line, Law will line up opposite Charlie Hunnam’s King Arthur, while Astrid Berges-Frisbey has also signed on to play Guinevere.

Directed by Ritchie, Knights Of The Roundtable will open in the UK on 22 July 2016.

Vin Diesel stars in new image from The Last Witch Hunter

Vin Diesel has posted a new image from The Last Witch Hunter on his Facebook page, in which he stars as the titular witch hunter, Kaldur.

The new image shows Kaldur looking mean and moody as a roaring fire rages all about him. Probably just burned some witches, knowing him…

The new film will see Kaldur forced to partner up with a feisty young woman played by Rose Leslie, when a coven of witches threatens to unleash a deadly plague upon humanity.

However, Leslie just so happens to be a witch herself, making for a very awkward partnership indeed. Expect mismatched sparks to fly every which way…

Directed by Breck Eisner and co-starring Michael Caine and Elijah Wood, The Last Witch Hunter will open in the US on 23 October 2015, with a UK date yet to be confirmed.

Scream TV show will change Ghostface’s mask

Mina Lefevre, MTV’s executive vice president, has been discussing the network’s forthcoming Scream TV show, and has revealed that Ghostface’s iconic mask will be altered for the small screen.

Scream was incredibly iconic,” says Lefevre, “but we wanted to reinvent that for TV while of course keeping all the main elements that made it so iconic, including a mask, but also the soapy teen stories, pop culture humor, the scares and the killer.”

“We’re tonally walking that line, yet delivering the scares in a significant way. The mask was a big discussion creatively. We wanted to get a nod and a wink to what the original was, but we definitely wanted to make it more on par with what horror is now, which is darker.”

And as for how that relates to the mask, it has been suggested that the new version will be a more disturbing proposition, in that it could be made from human flesh…

“It’s a darker, almost more grounded, evolved version of the mask,” says Lefevre. “It’s something we’re constantly talking about. How did that mask become that mask? What’s its purpose? How did it evolve?”

“If the Scream movie mask was the more plastic version, for a lack of a better description, this one is a more organic looking and frankly darker version.”

The new Scream show is set to run for ten episodes, and will debut in the US in October 2015, with a UK date to be confirmed.

Daniel Bruhl to play villain in Captain America: Civil War

Captain America: Civil War might be set to pit Captain America and Iron Man against each other, but there will also be a standalone villain involved, with Daniel Bruhl officially signing on to play the film’s big bad.

It had been thought that Tony Stark might become the nominal villain of the piece, and while that might still be the case, Bruhl will ensure there is a fully fledged “bad guy” on the scene too.

Intriguingly, Variety reports that Bruhl’s character may also be the chief antagonist in Doctor Strange, a revelation that is sure to set the rumour mill into overdrive regarding his identity.

Kevin Feige broke the news on behalf of the studio, saying, “with Daniel’s ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes.”

Intriguing stuff. Captain America: Civil War will hit UK screens on 29 April 2016, before Doctor Strange arrives later that year, on 6 November.

Batman v Superman will include Bruce Wayne’s parents’ murder

Eyewitness reports have revealed some new plot details from Batman v Superman , namely that the new film will recreate the famous scene in which Thomas and Martha Wayne are shot dead.

Zack Snyder has apparently drawn heavily from the Frank Miller comic-book The Dark Knight Returns, in which the Waynes are murdered after a visit to the cinema to watch Zorro, a known inspiration for the character.

It also seems that Snyder filmed the entire sequence using IMAX cameras, which suggests the technology will be used liberally throughout the production.

Whether we need to see the Waynes meet a sticky end yet again is certainly up for debate, but it’s clearly something that Ben Affleck’s older version of the character is still struggling to process…

Directed by Snyder and co-starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Jesse Eisenberg, Batman v Superman will open in the UK on 25 March 2016.

Christoph Waltz to play villain in Bond 24?

Bond 24 may have found itself a villain, with Daily Mail reporter Baz Bamigboye reporting that Christoph Waltz has signed on to join the production.

The reporter broke the news via his Twitter feed, going on to reveal that the film will begin shooting in early December in Mexico, Morocco, Austria, Italy and London.

Should the rumour prove to be true, Waltz will be aided and abetted by Dave Bautista’s henchman, while Lea Seydoux is also thought to be on board as a classic femme fatale.

No specific plot details have been revealed as yet, but Waltz feels like a good fit for a traditional Bond villain, so hopefully we’ll get official confirmation on this sooner rather than later.

Directed by Sam Mendes and co-starring Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw, Bond 24 will open in the UK on 23 October 2015.

Jai Courtney in talks to join Suicide Squad

Warner's Suicide Squad casting drive continues apace, with Variety reporting that Jai Courtney is currently in talks to play Deadshot.

A regular villain in the Batman universe, Deadshot will apparently be one of the key characters in the forthcoming film, which will see a group of supervillains carrying out government missions in order to wipe their respective slates clean.

Should Courtney sign on the dotted line, he will line up alongside Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), with Tom Hardy and Will Smith also thought to be in advanced negotiations.

Variety also reports that Hardy's prospective role would be founding Suicide Squad member Rick Flagg, while Smith has been pencilled in to play Captain Boomerang, a long-standing nemesis of The Flash.

Directed by David Ayer, who is also giving the script a rewrite, Suicide Squad will open in the US on 5 August 2016, with a UK date yet to be confirmed.
