A new trailer has arrived online for Tommy Lee Jones’ new western, The Homesman, in which he plays an ageing outlaw charged with helping smuggle a trio of mentally ill women across the prairie.
Having been rescued from the noose by Hilary Swank’s Mary B. Cutty, Jones finds himself in her debt, and assisting her in her daring attempt to get the aforementioned women the care they require.
However, the journey is a long and dangerous one, with bandits, hijackers and Native Americans all waiting to complicate things for our heroes.

With stellar support coming from Meryl Streep and Hailee Steinfeld, this one has Oscar-bait written all over it, and looks as though it could well be one of the finest westerns in many a year…
Directed by Jones and co-starring John Lithgow, James Spader and William Fichtner, The Homesman will open in the UK on 5 December 2014.
